What Etyr collects

Etyr is built to be local-first. It has no accounts, no sign-in, and no profile. It does not collect browsing history, page content, bookmarks, or any personal information.

Network requests

Etyr makes network requests to public dictionary APIs (such as the Free Dictionary API) and optionally AI fallback services (Google Gemini, Hugging Face) to fetch definitions when you look up a word. No other data is transmitted. Definitions are cached locally so repeat lookups happen offline.
